Pros

free drink nice coworkers that made it fun to come in to work everyday

Cons

Management is an absolute mess. I was fired after 6 months because I wasn't progressing yet they never scheduled me to finish training so I was stuck on kitchen duty almost every single day. I had to reschedule my first barista training because I got covid, was made to feel bad that I couldn't come in and was NEVER rescheduled for it even after months of asking. I was fired with zero warning and for no legitimate reason and when I asked to speak with the higher ups to dispute they told me "feel free to apply again next year." Literally what is wrong with you? Very insensitive company, do not ignore the bad reviews STAY AWAY. You never feel of any value, are never told you are doing a good job and have no security in your position. Every location was understaffed and I always had to work long hours. If you try to take a 15 minute break managers and team leads will guilt you out of it or threaten you that you are hurting the team. Pay is a sham, management is a sham and this whole company is a sham. Also they have a weird fixation on the word "slay", as if using hip lingo will make you feel welcome and appreciated. It is very forced and used at every possible opportunity.

Pros

The job itself is easy

Cons

If you value your mental health do not work here. I started and worked really hard and even got promoted quickly. I really thought this job would be long term for me. Soon after, multiple people were let go inappropriately. They would ghost schedule people who were about to be fired so it would look like they were scheduled after corporate was planing on letting them go. After expressing concern about behavior from corporate it was obvious that they were not willing to take feedback. I quit before I could get fired for fighting for my team. I provided a months notice to help out my cafe team as everyone there was amazing. Once I filled out my exit survey and voiced my opinion, they told me they no longer needed me on. Basically somehow managed to fire me after I had quit. My team at the cafe all left at one time do to poor management. Everyone who works there is concerned about “playing the game” instead of genuinely caring about team members. At the end of the day it’s coffee and should not be a job that you worry about your livelihood over.

Hello, Thanks for taking the time to fill out a review. We always appreciate feedback; however, I would like to clarify a couple key scenarios that you have referenced, for both your sake and other's reading this. During our sit-down after your manager was let go, I, our VP, and another manager, sat with you and listened to your concerns- particularly about the "ghost scheduling" that you are referring to. If I remember correctly, our VP (and myself) agreed with you, and we saw that in "ghost scheduling" people, we were causing unnecessary stress on our employees. We heard your feedback, thanked you, and decided to move forward with it, all during our conversation with you. We do appreciate that you gave ample notice, as our talent manager expressed in her message to you. When we no longer had hours for you (we needed to hire new baristas to replace the hours you were previously working) our talent manager sent you a curtesy message letting you know that we did not need you on the next schedule, and you responded that you were quitting immediately, and that you had worked your last day. You were given the option to work an additional week with us and you decided not to. If you need additional clarity please feel free to reach out to me directly. -Pearl Brown (Director of Talent, Fiddleheads Management)

Based on the anonymity of this review, I am not able to respond as well as I would prefer to; however, I don't recall the unfair termination of any staff member. At Fiddleheads, we require at least "two level approval" for any termination, promotional, or review. This protects employees from unfair treatment (as mentioned above). If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me (Pearl Brown), as I'm sure you have my contact information, and I would love to be able to clarify our reason for termination, or answer any other questions related to your experience with Fiddleheads.
