Pros

There are no pros but I'm going to keep typing to satisfy the 20 word minimum requirment. I repeat there are no pros.

Cons

Lies from management during the interview process. Specifically, they claim all their techs make good money and flag lots of hours. They will try to sucker you in with a high base rate. What they don't tell you is their labor times are literally the lowest in the industry, so the base rate is meaningless. Be prepared for long hours, no lunch breaks, and earning minimum wage. Dishonesty is a requirement to work for the company. Your pay and even your job itself is dependent on how badly you can gouge and exploit customers. Relentless use of corporate propoganda and brainwashing.

Pros

Your co workers become like family

Cons

Firestone is a company succumbed to corporate greed. They work and grind the store level employees to the bone with a promise of a better tomorrow. When tomorrow arrives and you mention all that you did for them yesterday their response is what have you done for me today? The stores are open 361 days out of the year and 3 of those days are paid holidays. You will never have a work life balance working for this company. The compensation used to be a great quality of this company and made up for the lack of decent offerings in other areas. However corporate released an "internal budget" done by a third party company and we were told that we had to change and address our monthly goals according to this new budget. In reality the only thing this did was balloon our goals to prevent bonus pay outs to store level employees making the grind that much harder. Corporate plans quarterly "Epic Tire Sales" that are played out flat and dated and they rely on the store level employees to spread the word instead of using its multi million dollar marketing team. I guess those guys are saved for the professional sporting ads and Olympics... this company is reactive instead of proactive. It takes a mechanic getting crushed by an overweight work vehicle to implement "safe lift" procedures which do not make employees feel any safer instead they just know its yet another loophole a lawyer has to fight through to get the family any compensation God forbid a fatal accident were to occur. The upper managment/area management cares less about how much vehicle service you provide for the customer base and more about you opening Firestone Credit Card accounts. Fix the culture. The corporate greed culture of always needing to be open. Of exploiting people who can't afford to fix their car that isn't road worthy with a high interest Credit card. Give more holidays off. Christmas eve, labor day, memorial day, new years day. An automotive shop should not be advertising and operating on black friday like a big box store.

Pros

Opportunities to learn if you get a great manager, get to run the business as your own, get to lead a great team if you are provided one.

Cons

You will never see your family if you have one, you will get screamed at with no backup from the company even when you do the right thing while they preach about doing the right thing. If you survive and make it to the store manager level, be ready to never, ever move on from there. Promotions are based on their internship program, they do not promote from within despite what they say. If you need to hire someone, good luck! All you can do is submit a ticket and cross your fingers and hope that maybe some talent will apply. Most do not and all you get is the goon squad candidate pool, then are put in a desperate situation where you are managing a business and working on cars because your talent pool sucks. (Unless you get a functioning store, which are few and far between.) Bonuses are only good if you got a functioning store. If you take over something broken be prepared for 11 dollar bonus embarrassments.
