Pros

Before November 2020 I could have given you 100 pros of working at the home/corporate office of FirstLight Home Care. Now, well I can't give you one. They "restructured" and will try to paint you a picture of how great it is it be there. Do not fall for the BS or lies. I worked there many years. I know what it was like before the "restructuring". It used to be a family, a place you wanted to be. It used to be a place of warmth & integrity. A place you were proud to work. Now, geesh is all I can say.

Cons

I can give you 100 cons of working there. The current executive team is out for themselves so make sure you are constantly taking notes or making a log of everything that was talked about so you can go back to it. Document everything is all I can say. The current executive team will use you for what they need you for and then they will destroy your integrity and your mental self. They will be nice to you only when they need something from you. The current executive team is basically fumbling through running the FLHC home corporate office. Without the employees below them they would not know how or what to do. Since the beginning of the year many people have quit because of the current atmosphere in that office. Do not believe the BS of the "culture of care" that they say is there. As of November 2020, when they let the founder of the company go, it lost all intergirty and culture it had. Oh and please note that they are trying to reinvent the history of FLHC. The current executives and BOD are not the "founders" or the history behind FLHC as they would let you believe. The history of FLHC was one of warmth, culture, love for its employees, a place you strived. Now its all about making money and destroying anyone below your pay grade to get there.

Thank you for expressing your thoughts and feelings. There is no doubt we have undergone a significant transformation at our support center in a very short time. Change is not easy, and I am sorry for your struggles. I am personally committed to the vision of service excellence and care that our founding team established, and that our franchisees live out every day. You should know that I do care about our company culture and, with the help of a supportive team behind me, will continue to build upon the unique qualities that make us who we are. I wish you the best, Glee McAnanly, President

Pros

There are no pros for this company at all. The only good thing about this experience is the long-lasting friendship that I had made with my client.

Cons

The only reason why I am still working here is because of my one client. I hope all other locations are completely different. The owner is heartless and only blows up your phone when she needs a shift filled. That is why I only take on my regular client. This company is filled with lies. If I try to pick up last minute shifts I am told that the location is nearby..... When I am on my way to the clients home, it is so out of the way, over 45 min away. Absolutely ridiculous. Paychecks are never on time unless if you go and pick it up. I live far, and have to drive all the way here to drop off Florida Hospital notes. If they happen to lose your notes they hold your paycheck. I have also requested for a copy of my home health aide certificate. Which by the way, I have never received any appropriate training. So I don't know how I am technically certified. I don't even know if we have a registered nurse to help train us. Corporate and joint commission really needs to step in and take a look at this location. When I was hired I never received training nor any rules and regulations. Being sent out blind is careless. I would never recommend this company to any family in need of a caregiver.

Pros

The management was great when I worked there: kind, respectful, professional and helpful. The system seemed well organized. The company works to match caregivers and patients so that both sides are happy.

Cons

They just didn't pay enough. I made more cleaning houses than being a trained nursing assistant. That is a real problem - but I don't think it's exclusive to FirstLight. All the caretaking companies should check themselves in this regard. If they want the best CNAs - and attract the right people to the industry, then they should find a way to pay them better.
