Pros

As a software engineer, the work is exciting. Interfacing with and modeling various avionic packages. With the ever changing world of avionics it never gets stagnant for long. Travel, there is always opportunities for travel. From domestic training facilities to international customers. Stability, this company has been around a long time and appears to be poised to be around as long as planes are flown by human pilots.

Cons

Compensation seems comparatively low for what we do. Travel, occasionally the extended periods away from home can be depressing. I feel that we are so specialized that once you are around for awile you lose marketablity to move outside of simulation work.

Pros

The best reason to work af FlightSafety (Broken Arrow) is its great location, easily accesible close to a major highway, in a very nice part of town, in a great school district, close to Tulsa but you don't have to fight with all the traffic. The second great reason is company stability, it has been around for a long time, is part of a great parent company that will be around forever. The third reason is work environment, the people are easy to get along with, the leadership is leading, the office environment is just great.

Cons

The salaries have fallen behind due to neglect. Because it is such an enjoyable place to work, and easy to get comfortable, there hasn't been enough attention to career development or keeping salaries competetive. (But that may be changing due to recent new management personnel.)

Pros

Seems like a good place to start off and get some training. They do have a easy tuition assistance program. I have worked on several different aircraft desktop simulator programs and the new simio system. Software tools are decent although no process occurs.

Cons

Simulation is not a good field for the Central-Midwest USA. Can't apply much experience other than the software experience to any other computer careers. Traveling for this company is ridiculus anywhere you go takes all day and the per diem barely gets you fast food.
