      Pros

      Decent working conditions, pay and benefits packages. And truthfully, I enjoy flight simulation.

      Cons

      For tech's it's the shift work and lack of respect from upper management.

      Pros

      The best reason of all: FlightSafety is a stable work environment and provides job security to it's employees. It is a remarkable feat considering the technology changes in both computers and aerospace in the last 5 decades. As a software engineer there are many toys to play with. The toys span from computer languages and programs to video cards and hydraulic controls. Management tends to let engineering run with what we have and give us support when we ask while keeping us challenged. Every dollar made in aerospace is worth $1.50 in other industries, it's very interesting.

      Cons

      One of the trade offs to the employment security "best reason" is a slow compensation increase. Usually there is an annual raise plus a profit incentive bonus. Annually both combined will always be well below the year's inflation rate of the region. Skilled engineers tend to move on quickly after a few years of 2-3% raises, leaving remaining engineers in a constant state of teaching and explaining.
