Pros

A paycheck. and a job.

Cons

Horrible benefits. Far below the industry norm for IT salaries. They hold back medical benefits for 60 days from your hire date. No sick leave, you are required to use your PTO, aka vacation time. HR is useless, operates like they are in the 1970's. No room for negotiation on benefits or salary. It's their way or the highway. Lucky if you can get a manager that speaks English, let alone understands it. IT management only capable of understanding windows, forget about any Unix knowledge. Even high level software management doesn't know how their software or products work, forget about trying to bring any new technology in. Steer clear of this disaster.

Pros

•Excellent Benefits- Best I've seen in my career thus far. •Unlimited Overtime- If you're looking for some extra cash, there is always opportunity to work overtime. •Good training- Inexperienced staff are not just thrown to the wolves, first 12 weeks are spent under the guidance of a preceptor. •PTO- PLENTY of PTO accrued each pay period

Cons

•Long hours- Sometimes spend 12+ hours on your feet •Mediocre hourly wages- For the quantity and quality of work expected of each employee (without much room for error), compensation should be considerably higher. •Work-life balance is slightly lacking

Local Management Matters

Pros

Good pay compared to other local medical companies. Good benefits. As the clinic social worker, you have the flexibility to do the work you want to do, when you want to do it. You know your deadlines and can basically make your own daily schedule. The work is easy and the complex situations that may arise really aren't that complex, on a social work scale. Overall, good company to work for.

Cons

Your experience with Fresenius is only as good as your local management. Our management team changed about halfway through my tenure, and it was not a positive experience. The overall morale at my clinic went from good to awful. It is nearly impossible to do your job well as a social worker if your manager doesn't comprehend what you do. My manager never fully understood the need for a renal social worker or bothered to understand why CMS requires us to be master-level clinicians. I ended up doing more secretarial duties because my manger thinks that's what social workers do. When I tried to approach management about it, I was met with hostility. I felt that Fresenius was no longer pushing me professionally in a positive way as a clinical social worker, so I eventually found employment elsewhere.
