Pros

There are really no good reasons to work with FMCNA. It has been a complete mess working here since RCG was bought out by FMCNA. The only true reason I can think of that would be a good reason is that you get attatched to your patients since you see them very frequently.

Cons

The management is horrible, they never praise you for the good things that you do. They overload you with extra work that they are supposed to be completing. They belittle you infront of your patients and make you feel that you dont know what you are doing and that you can't do anything right. The Management has favorite employees that get away with everything. The upper management never sees what goes on in the clinic and they just go by what thier clinic managers say goes on. The techs are treated like crap and they are blamed for everything, including labs that they have no control over. The techs get yelled at for HCT and HGB's levels that are low and also Albumin levels that are low and the dietician is supposed to be assisting in this and encouraging patients to take care of this. Techs are yelled at if they do not do the job of tech, dietician and socialworker, because they do not hire enough of these other professions to take care of the demand. I have handled many of these tasks because we did not have a social worker or a dietician at one time. It has made my time with the company miserable and I wish that RCG would have never sold to FMCNA. They just plain suck, don't waste your time with this crappy company, trust me you will not like it. As soon as I can obtain a better job I will leave and I know almost all of the rest of my fellow employees will too. There is a very high turnover due to the horrible company.

Pros

The pay was good (but below market value). The company trained me--initially (but did not keep up on heir training despite my many requests--and then used the phrase "missed opportunity" as part of the reason for driving me out).

Cons

While pay was good, it was below the market value for my area. While I was trained initially (a 12-week program plus 6 months on the floor), they did not keep up their training of me despite my many requests to be trained, and then used the phrase "missed opportunity" as part of the reason for driving me out. The hours could be anywhere from 8 to 16 or more hours a day. And we were to work faster, get more done in a shorter period of time, while still being accurate and safe for the patients--though we were being run like a mill. The stress began to affect my health, especially once I reached 13.5 hours per day. Often, after a couple of those days (or longer) in a row, my so-called day off was needed for physical recovery. There is little work-life balance concern. Over time, the drive to keep out TAP down became so myopic that management cared only for that and not the patients or the staff that is to tend to them. Our patient population dropped to such a degree that we went from 6-days a week to 3. While our staffing just covered that, not everyone was working full-time anymore--and they began to recruit new techs. The push began to drive techs out and replace the entire staff with new techs--and for the Clinic Manager to *also* become the RN on the floor (doing two jobs at once).

Pros

Fulfillment from working directly with patients on a regular basis. Flexible hours, PTO accumulates quickly, decent pay and benefits. They have branches all over the country so there is a lot of availability if you choose to relocate. Social Workers are given flexibility to shape their own role. It's important to be an autonomous social worker, but still be able to collaborate with team members from other disciplines.

Cons

Typically there is one social worker per clinic, so you need to call or e-mail if you require social worker support. The company re-organizes often and does not always take into consideration if new policies are realistic for clinical staff. Lack of opportunity for promotion that does not include a lot of traveling. As someone committed to service, it is hard for me to participate in pushing pharmacy enrollment or other programs that are designed to help the company get more money from patients.
