Pros

Employees, I loved my employees, all hard working, knowledgeable, and just a delight to be around. Its a shame to leave such a wonderful team of individuals.

Cons

The fact that GameStop targets higher paid employees and makes a game plan to filter them out. I work for over 7 years for GameStop. With me putting my all into this job I was very successful. Next year with a 3% pay raise I would have been paid over the salary threshold for USA (about 48k). GameStop did not like this, so the accused me of discount abuse, by saying I took advantage of the system and discounted a $6 item to $0.... I simply replied yes I did, my guest had a broken one that they had just paid fot that was crushed, GameStop has always said take care of your guests, don't worry about it, it will all be ok, just make sure your guest leaves happy... COMPLETE BS. It's funny they even went as far as to accuse me of taking monies from the resisters! With that I asked for proof. The only response was "oh on our hidden cameras we saw you"... Oh ok show me I would like to see this footage because I absolutely do not recall anything of the sort. "We can't show you as it will jeopardize the hidden cameras" hmm ok the show me where any proof is please, we are never off on my the registers we aren't missing any products, so where do you GameStop as a company have the audacity to accuse me of something that even now after accepting my resignation still say I did not do? Also to clear things up I gave my resignation because HR VP, threatened that the police will come to my house and arrest me. So my attorney advised to resign for if I did not they would still most likely fire me. For still only doing the right thing and taking care of my guests. You can take what I'm saying as there has to be another side, this person is just an angry previous employee, but I can honestly tell you I loved working for GameStop, its just so unfortunate that because the company is spending millions of dollars to add their name to movies and snacks for example, Spiderman Homecoming*; that they have to get rid of the employees that actually are there to help grow the business, for a employee that gets paid far less, that will eventually the same thing happen to.

Pros

Free games (Most go to Store Managers) Borrow games (new or preowned for up to 4 days. 15% discount on (25% stack with PUR Pro card) most items (non new systems) Between 3.5-8 weeks of vacation/sick depending on tenure.

Cons

Salary Managers are expected to work at minimum 44 and usually 4-12 hours more. Little to No payroll support. They give a usual total of 127 hours to each store most of the year. 44 goes to the store manager, at least 32 to the Assistant. Which leaves 51 hours to be split among the rest of your staff. Unrealistic expectations. The company expects you to perform as though you have a staff of 20 when you are usually alone or if your lucky to have two people on. You're replaceable. GameStop gets tons of applications so everybody here is replaceable. If you don't perform at the highest level or make a mistake they will just pull the next one from the pile.

My Time at Gamestop

Pros

-Amazing group of DMs and RD to work with. -Reimbursements on all employee expenses (within reason) -Travel -Free goodies at both conferences -Great people -Working with passionate Store Managers Gamestop has plans to sustain themselves and to be honest, it looked great at the time. I believe that they will continue to be successful.

Cons

The cons from my side was the endless micro managing from my trainer at the time. Always calling me - weekends included to see if I had done my work. The weekends are for me unless there is an emergency. I was never really applauded when I did something correct but was ALWAYS told I did something wrong when I did. I wasn't a store manager but I did feel for them at times. As someone in a regional position, I thought it was unfair that Store Managers worked longer and sometimes harder than we did. They do not get paid enough for the work they put in and for those of you still there, I applaud you. Stay passionate, continue to work hard and good things will come to you whether that is at Gamestop or somewhere else, I promise you!
