      I had a long great career at Gates until the last few years when management eliminated most of the corporate knowledge.

      Pros

      Gates had been competitive with salaries and benefits. They had a company match 401(k) program and also had a good financial assistance for their continuing education program.

      Cons

      Because of the large number of new people in upper management with no experience in belts and hose the company is being run by consultants. Management also have no appreciation for the complexities of the product and ignore input from employees.

      Pros

      Very challenging; lots of low-hanging fruit. Some mid-level management that is great, and leftover culture from Gates family is trying to hang on.

      Cons

      Difficult to get mid to upper management to listen to details; goals are conflicting at top levels and cause middle and lower level conflicts. Some push for projects that are costly and want them done fast; others push hard to reduce costs and don't care about timelines. Almost impossible to realize any positive feedback because mid to upper management tiers are engaged in a battle to the death.
