Pros

-Perks are awesome! 401K matches, good insurance(though some people disagree), there's free chocolate, 50% off at the outlets, and they started offering pet insurance. -Good experience for someone fresh out of college. -People in production are from diverse backgrounds and there's less politics on the production floor than other places I've worked.

Cons

-Pay isn't great. It's good fresh out of college, but since there aren't many roles in the QA department so the techs kinda do everything. Assist with audits, do raw material checks, do cuttings of the products on the floor, assist with R&D projects, enforce GMPs, ect. For the amount we do we should be paid more. -I worked night shift. It sucked. Not only because of the hours, but because you're forgotten about and often the shift is blamed for issues. -QA is a weird in between of corporate and production. We don't get the perks of the production employees because we're corporate (gifts, free insurance, some COVID time off), but since we're production we also don't get many of the perks from corporate (fun events, free food, ect) because we're either not there during the hours or we have to attend to the production floor. The things we do get are leftovers (food that's been out half a day and the extra gifts) and department gifts. -Management doesn't listen to issues and doesn't incentive techs. There's no learning opportunities, no roles to be promoted to, and nothing was done when the QA techs expressed concern about being burnt out. The supervisor tried to change things for the better, but nothing was done because our concerns weren't taken seriously beyond him. No one really gets punished for slacking off and if you go above and beyond don't expect anything more than the thank you and being told you'll get a good performance review.

Low Employee Satisfaction

Pros

- They have a great product, the squares are delicious and there is nothing that really compares. - The company history in California is incredible, it goes all the way back to gold rush. - From a consumer perspective the brand is loved. - People care about work life balance so this is very protected.

Cons

- Zero diversity at the executive level. It sends the message that if you aren't white, male, middle-aged, you don't fit in. -The European headquarters has no understanding of the American market, they are set in their ways and go to great lengths to make unecessary work, make things overly complicated and cannibalize this brand because it isn't Lindt which is their main brand. - There is a real toxic culture here unfortunately due to the reasons above. No matter how great the people were they have been pushed down so hard by this nonsense that they have become dissatisfied and unhappy people make others unhappy. - Tip: Ask for the results of their employee satisfaction survey, there is clear data that shows employees vs management. It shows you no one likes it there except management . - Worst of all, there is no growth, it's a mature industry and there is no true innovation happening due to the parent company and their iron fist control. You will constantly look at your competitors and wish you were them.

Thank you very much for your candid feedback, and we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. We believe Ghirardelli is made up of delightful, talented people who are at the core of our success. Although we have an overall positive work environment and culture, we acknowledge there are areas of opportunity for growth and improvement. We recently implemented changes and enhancements to our company practices, benefits and learning opportunities as a direct result of our company surveys and employee focus groups. We are committed to our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives and being a great place to work for everyone. As a result, we have been named a Great Place to Work-Certified organization effective September 2020. Although these actions are important and valuable steps in the right direction, we will continue working to build a greater workplace culture for all of our employees. If you have additional feedback feel free to email me at hrcorp@ghirardelli.com. Thank you again for your feedback and for your contributions to Ghirardelli while you were here. We wish you much success and happiness in your future endeavors.

Pros

They are patient when you are new but also expect you to step up to help you become a better employee. It's a fun environment and they will help you grow throughout your time in the company.

Cons

Sometimes the scheduling is weird and can demand a lot from you. You just have to continue to assert and communicate clearly your capacity.
