Sad to say this, but avoid any possible involvement

Pros

Great people in non-executive roles, especially ICs. Really cool product. Lots of flexibility (ie. remote, PTO, working hours).

Cons

Unfortunately, Glowforge has gone downhill and there is hardly any hope for redemption. The business plan is flawed, executives don't listen to what their people are saying, you get whiplashed around on different priorities and projects, it's chaotic, no one takes responsibility, and worst of all they expect the world of you but you aren't treated with respect. Don't believe the 'hype', 'greenwashing', 'buzzwords' or whatever seems appealing about joining this company.... you'll be more stressed than what it's worth for what you get paid.

Pros

Cool product with lots of potential, generally lots of great people to work with at lower levels or IC level

Cons

- Heavy top down management style (extreme micromanagement) - Leaders will protect each other and blame lower levels when things go wrong instead of taking accountability for lack of direction - Generally ignores best practices, just do as you're told or you will be deemed difficult to work with - Management message you late at night and on weekends, they say you don't have to but if you're not putting in 50-60 hour weeks it will be looked down on.

Pros

Great benefits. Great individual contributors. My teammates and cross team coworkers were amazing. Interesting complex product providing great challenges and opportunities to learn. Progressive and open minded.

Cons

Top heavy: many managers to too few ICs. Lack of manager accountability. No 360 reviews. Managers likely to defend/protect each other rather than listen to concerns from their reports. Lack of diversity: very male, very white. Local remote managers with in office employees rarely appeared or engaged in office- deficit of knowledge of the in office work and dynamics. Aspirational bordering on deluded benchmarks, then upset when the goals aren’t met. Top down management, quick to reprimand rather than reflect on lack of sufficient processes and manager engagement.
