Pros

There are none, horrible company all around!

Cons

Was hired as a manager on salary, then they switched management to hourly. I was told in order to make my salary I would have to work 8hrs regular pay then 2 hours overtime everyday, so a normal day is either 8am-6pm or 12am-10pm. But you never actually make the promise overtime because of your lunch period. The Assistant managers and key holders have better schedules and perks, especially if you’re a woman. The job is very, very dirty with lots of lifting. As a manager you’re actually a glorified cashier, restroom attendant, dressing room attendant of bathroom cleaner. The company believes in skeleton crews, so many times you’re on register and at the same time unlocking the restrooms and fitting room doors. And because you're a guy you need to stop in middle of doing all three and expected to help a customer out to their car with a piece of furniture. You are also expected to clean the public and employees restrooms because there is no cleaning crew. They list this as ‘’maintenance'’ in your contract. Screwing a light bulb is maintenance, not cleaning hazard waste! Many, many a times there is feces and urine everywhere and not just the bathrooms. We actually had a toilet backup all over the front of the store and everyone was told to clean it up or be fired. One hint, on the back of your badge is a 800 number for that hazard waste clean up, they don’t tell you about! Use it! Also, do your history on this company, it is for profit!

Pros

It's a job that pays so little that your family will still qualify for medicaid and food stamps.

Cons

The CEO makes >$300k per year. The poorest worker makes less than $5.00 per hour. When sales decrease, they cut hours rather than use that time to train people.

Pros

Some really amazing work is done through the efforts of Goodwill Central Texas. The case managers and staff truly care about giving their clients quality service

Cons

Because the company is spread so far across Austin, it can be difficult to have your work recognized by the people that matter. If you do not have a strong/solid immediate supervisor, managing to get the support from a quality person is not easy. You are also expected to put a lot of time into "supporting the organization" off the clock...unpaid but required (even though they do not say it is)
