Pros

Excellent PTO, profit sharing plan, health benefits, work/life balance

Cons

Weak/unimpressive leadership within sales force, recent shift towards data and operations has compromised the morale of the sales force, limited opportunities for advancement within sales. It doesn't pay to stay at Grainger (if you are in sales) for more than a few years. There are better opportunities out there without having to look very hard.

Pros

Good health insurance benefits as well as helpful additions like d&d insurance options. Grainger has excellent training and on boarding. Market leader in the MRO space. Large Corporation with an international footprint.

Cons

Greatly diminished profit sharing program. It may seem insignificant but one of my biggest frustrations is that Grainger requires you to have a roommate at all training and team functions. Recent adoption of salesforce has increased demand on an already paired down sales team. The general lack of autonomy has increased in the last few years. The reality of the bonus structure is that you succeed every other year. When you achieve your target you are stacked with an unattainable goal the following year. Just make sure you bank your bonuses and account for it. Significant change in the organization has taken place over the last few years and collective morale is at it's lowest in some time. Systems and resources while diminishing are a beauraucratic nightmare to navigate.

Pros

People used to work there for many years, it was a feeling like being at home where everybody knows everybody. Used to be profit sharing plan up to 20% annually.

Cons

Too many manners, especially non-technical managers in IT, who had no idea how to manage a technical team, but knew all about internal politics. No clear career path for tech professionals. No autonomy. No independence. Very slow pace of everything. To many useless meetings.
