Pros

I have been working at Guidewire for over five years and feel so lucky to work on a team where my ideas are valued, and I feel truly cared about. I enjoy the amount of collaborative work and autonomy in my role. The corporate culture at the company is outstanding (regular company-wide meetings, opportunities for outside training and career development, and flexibility to work from home as needed) and it really is the people that make Guidewire such a rewarding company to work at.

Cons

I do not have any cons to share at this point. Management regularly responds quickly to any employee concerns as they arise. This is one of the things I like most about Guidewire- there really is an open-door policy from your peers up to the CEO.

Pros

your immediate team will likely be great.

Cons

this company is now at the level i expected it would move to.... investor focused (not bad necessarily) meat market. there is NO collegiality any more there is NO promotion from within.... so when the vp/chief of professional services left there was NO ONE in services management that could not take that or no one wanted that position? yeah... the way to move up is the same as all companies now... move out. We even heard that directly from the so called chief product development "officer." He loves it when you leave guidewire to learn something, that apparently no one at guidewire knows, and then you come back. Want to move up at guidewire - quit - go work for a mature cloud company and then come back to guidewire if you really want to. also, will guidewire ever be able to claim "cloud native" as long as it depends on it's antiquated, outdated, programming language, Gosu?

Pros

Most people are friendly and open to advice and or gentle criticism. The PMO organization does seem to have it together on where to go with the platform.

Cons

The company used to value customer success, employee satisfaction and other core values. Under the new management the company values profit over everything. People who are or should be considered experts are often not consulted about priorities of work or even thoughts on direction of development when that is their key job. Mid level management has taken a view of do what you are told and do not ask questions. Essentially every division is promoting what amounts to the age old "yes" person instead of someone who might raise credible objections. Again this is especially clear at middle managment especially in development and professional services though sometimes clear that a profit before success is prevalent at higher levels and even stated as such.
