Pros

Good place to learn. I suggest that if you are an accounting student you spend a year working at Block. Good short term employment, especially if out accounting for a few years.

Cons

Tax pros have little opportunity for advancement. Most managers and corp exec's have no tax prep experience. As you gain expience and grow your book of clients, your bonus will grow, however they will try to reassign your easy clients and this will limit your bonus growth. Expect heavy pressure to sell credit cards, POM and other products that most clients don't really need.

Pros

Hours are flexible, pay is good for seasonal work

Cons

Employees are expected to work alone in offices in otherwise vacant strip malls. When we report feeling unsafe, we were told to call the police is we felt threatened and then call Incident Management.
