Pros

I have a fantastic manager, and great training is available. Remodeled offices are crisp and clean. Easy to transfer between cities.

Cons

One's ability to sell "products" is valued much more highly than experience, expertise, efficiency, and professionalism. If you have an Accounting degree, it is irrelevant. They offer great training on tax laws and "products," but almost nothing on the technical processes that are essential to the job. You have the option of doing all sorts of things to best serve each individual client's situation, but they do not train you how to do them.

Pros

I have had my taxes done here many years and they have always done a great job. I decided I wanted to take the Tax course and be employed with HR Block. I took the course and although I have some background in accounting (I had already been in school for Accounting for two years) , I learned a lot. However, after receiving an employment opportunity I found out that I could actually make more money working at McDonald's (no offense) than after paying for the course, spending time studying, and then being offered just over minimum wage. That was with a bachelor's in business admin. I would highly recommend the course for someone who wants to learn. As far as an actual job with a real paycheck you will have better luck elsewhere.

Cons

No hours, low pay. The management had worked there for three years and our class that finished tax 101 was allowed to put an application in for a manager position. No one was hired but the manager of our store had no knowledge of how to treat employees or run a small business.

Pros

Good tax course, if you work for a good office with nice coworkers then you can learn a lot. I like the fact that its seasonal.

Cons

Its profit driven company. If they don't have enough client they will ask you not to go to work. It all depends which office you go to and all can be different from your co-workers to your clientel. Management is old fashioned. I think the corporate has good ideas but mostly they are not implemented in the work place.
