A New Low

Pros

You have opportunity to learn. You can set your work time. Most of the coworkers are friendly, helpful and smart.

Cons

Dollar per hour payment is very low and if you are not working in a busy office forget the bonus. Stress level is high since any serious mistake in due diligence may lead to federal prison. There is absolutely no job description. As a tax pro in a seasonal office for less than $10.00 per hour: - You are expected to present a perfect performance as a tax-prepare/tax-advisor (ok, you applied for it) - You are expected to be as calm as a psychologist, as patient as a social worker and as accurate as an accountant (ok, it comes with the territory) - You are expected to do all the admin jobs, client callings, fillings and … (ok, your client, your responsibility) - You are expected to deposit money at the bank at the end of each day (???) - You are expected to sell as many company products to clients as possible (Not ok, you did not apply for a sales position which is usually better paid) - You are expected to fully participate in marketing (Not ok, you did not apply for marketing position which is a much better paying job) - You are expected to make coffee, empty the trash and clean the bathroom (???)

Pros

No stress, no hassle to getting employed. Everything is at your fingertips and you don't actually have to know what you're doing. (I cringe at being called a tax specialist because I worked for them). They have a plan and you can advance though I use that word loosely.

Cons

The pay is dismal, the commissions are dismal (only growing to anything resembling a pittance after a few years), majority of work is seasonal.
