Pros

Great Atmosphere. Tax Professionals and Office Manager in our office were great. Not only did they work together to take care of their clients they took care of each other. They kept their main goal to do their job efficiently for every client. They did not rush just to push people through. They made sure they did everything possible. Also the option to take classes during the off season were great and I wish I would have been able to take advantage of them.

Cons

Unfortunately you are dealing with the clients money and on occasion even though the tax professional did everything they could to get money back there are occasions where that is out of their hands. People do get upset.

Pros

It a great company to learn the tax laws, and the staff employed are very helpful and have lots of knowledge.

Cons

Even if you get certified to the highest tax pro position,(enrolled agent), after a few years you start to incur a wage reduction of 20% every year. Example 10.00 * .20 = 8.00 and the following year take that new wage of 8.00 and reduce it by another 20%. I was making 22.00 per hr in 2010 five years later and i have to beg for 7.25. HR Block don't care who you are or how much you know, unless you increase you client growth by 20% you will take a pay cut every year of 20% and you must complete at least 150 tax returns, good luck with that since most offices only have 700 clients and there are 10-20 tax pros in each office.

Pros

Most offices are smaller which allows the employees to bond in a unique way... everyone pulls together to form a very tight knit team, and there is not a cut throat mentality. We all strive to present H&R Block in a positive light upholding the high standards of the company. Though the Client Service Professional position isn't as glamorous as that of a Tax Professional, it is still an intricate part of the company, as it is the front line of communication for all clients. If someone is an outgoing person who likes to start up conversations with complete strangers, this is a perfect position for them.

Cons

The only negative issue I have found with the company is poor planning when it comes to scheduling and regulating hours. My first year with Block was for the 2013 tax season. I was told I would be working a certain number of hours each week. My second month of employment, I was only able to work that number of hours because I filled in for the other CSPs in the office when they had to take time off. After the tax season, I was hired on at a year round office, two weeks into the position my hours where cut almost in half. After my first month during off season, my hours were reduced so greatly, that I had no choice but to seek employment elsewhere. This trend continued into the 2014 tax season. At one point I was informed by our office leader that all CSP hours were being cut... this required our office to use tax professionals to cover the front , which seems rather counterproductive. Thankfully my day job is only a couple of miles from the office I work in, if there had been much of a distance for me to drive, I would have had to consider the possibility of leaving the position as I would have been spending more in gas then what I was making per paycheck this past year.
