Pros

Very few. Decent tax training during the off-season.

Cons

In general, a terrible place to work. It is not easy to build a client base, particularly when prices were considered to be so outrageous by potential new clients. I barely got any hours to work during my 3rd and last season. Therefore, most of my clients were taken by other Tax Pros that would get most hours, and the best hours, since I was normally given Friday nights and Sunday afternoons, regardless if I had booked appointments during the previous season. One time I referred a client to the Premium Office, and never got the $25 referral fee. In any event, it did not matter, I knew I was not going to come back. So, from 110+ returns during my first season at a Wal-Mart, I went down to about 15 returns during my last season. Great advancement!

Pros

Good start for beginner, you learned tax at least, people there are nice, because you seldom have conflict of interest with your co-workers.

Cons

Low pay and slow growth of wages. Bonus is not arractive enough. no enough hours unless you stand out and work year round.
