HD Supply; a growing company with an incredible work environment and company culture,
Pros
The environment and company culture are both relaxed and welcoming. They allow personal expression in terms of appearance such as hair and body jewelery. The culture is such that they encourage continued education by paying up to 50% of tuition. They also have classes with in the company on everything from time management and basic skills to improving leadership courses for managers. Company offered classes are during regular work hours and paid. They also offer drinks and snack during these classes. HD Supply tries to always promote from with in and most employees started in entry level jobs and worked their way through the channels to where they are currently and learned continually about the company and industry as they grew together. It is refreshing to see the return of companies that want to emphasize their customer service and build their reputation on that by implementing programs like the "voice of the customer" that have created departments whose goal and job it is not only to resolve customer grievances but to research what commonly causes customers to be dissatisfied and take action to help correct those problem areas. Also there are few companies that offer most items freight free and do not charge for the pick up or return of merchandise regardless of reason or cost of return in nearly all cases.
Cons
The company was recently sold by Home Depot and is still in the process of making all of the changes resulting from said sale. HR is slow if ever to inform of new changes including those affecting salary raises for promotions and reviews. The hiring process can be slow. Inter-departmental communication is not great. Some departments are unclear of what others do or whom to refer customers to for newly created services and departments. While the rapid growth is great to watch company newsletters often address feel good information and stories rather than important information for employees on changes to be implemented. Also the current operation system is outdated and continues to crash and run slowly, though it should be said that a new system is in the works and should be implemented completely by the new year.
