The contact we lost was a 5 year contract and had only completed the first year. We were caught off guard when COVID shut down the VA facilities and had claim volume come to a standstill. Management was working on developing other sources of revenue to transition for the contract and ensure at the end of the contract period we would have other work and revenue. We were not prepared for an overnight stoppage of work. Some of the new work we are doing requires specific billing knowledge so we have needed to hire outside staff with that knowledge. Where possible, we have brought back staff from furlough with the majority of our current staff being with us from the pre-COVID days. This has been a difficult transition for everyone and we wish all the employees of HDM both current and former all the best!
