      Pros

      decent pay for the area, but dont count on getting raises.

      Cons

      The " ingalls attitude" otherwise known as corporate culture is outright apathy. No one cares. If there is a problem, the only effort put in is to get it handed off to the next department without actually fixing it. So if you have a hard work ethic and a high standard of quality, then Ingalls is not the place for you. Do as you are told, ignore the quality, and get it done.

      Creating digital work packages and moving the company into the 21st century is very rewarding

      Where do I begin! The department I work in just flat out sucks. Absolutely zero support. Upward mobility is extremely difficult despite going above and beyond. They preach on cost but programs constantly crash, up stream customers cause issues with staying on schedule causing upper management to get hostile and force you to work long hours, sometimes mandatory overtime, and when you have cost saving solutions they put your nose up to you. Managers don’t listen, you’re just a number and they micromanage to an extreme extent. Pay raises have been more than awful, averaging less than 2% YOY. Underpaid for the work, claiming a title change soon yet zero talks of that happening lately and it’s been almost 2 years. No communication & just really crap morale. I would stay far away from the VWI team.

      Pros

      HII runs smoothly for the most part. There are a lot of man-hours to build a Navy ship. But the departments seems to interact well together.

      Cons

      HII is old-school management style. They are losing a lot of employees to more progressive companies, such as Raytheon, which is paying more money and also offering full-time remote. HII is afraid of and resistant to change
