Pros

Great people, great business. Loved all the merchandise which allowed me to enjoy coming to work. Coworkers were friendly and supportive.

Cons

Like with all small businesses, drama between workers got in the way; however, not enough to affect the work experience.

Pros

Hallmark is a very strong brand and their products make people feel better and help friends and families stay connected. It is a strong brand that is nearly 100 years old so I feel that it is a stable business that will be around for a long time. In addition, it is a private company so during a time when the economy is having issues it is nice to be working for a company that is more focused on long term growth and doesn't have to report back to Wall Street. The company is very thoughtful about everything that they do.

Cons

It's located in Kansas City so there are not a lot of other companies to work for if you decide to leave. Because the company is so thoughtful and likes to use consultants, they are often very slow to move and respond to changes in the way that friends and families communicate with each other. Our main competitor, American Greetings, moves more quickly especially in the digital space. There are many opportunities to help consumers connect with each other digitally but Hallmark has been so slow to make a move into that space and now it seems that the younger generations don't even know about Hallmark.
