Pros

Some people were ok, the company location was the best thing for me, it was a convenient ride.

Cons

The management were the ones who blatantly bring people down and cause an awful amount of stress. It it wasn't for the owners and CEO who lack good leadership, the employees' situation would be a lot better.

Hi There! We appreciate the feedback and apologize that you did not have a good experience here at Hammerton. Crooked Executives

Pros

You want a pro huh? Well let's see... um, they have bathrooms that are sort-of clean sometimes. That's good right? Three toilets for around 100 men. I hope you don't have to use them at break time.

Cons

There's a general disregard for employee and public safety by company executives here. This has resulted in many potentially fatal product failures that would be completely preventable if they weren't so careless in their day to day operations. Executives push for reckless design and production rates that have amounted to an excessive number of serious safety issues. A forklift rolling out of the back of a truck is just one example, a 1000 Lb fixture falling from the ceiling because of extremely lax/nonexistent design safety standards/training is yet another. It's a revolving door for all depts., including HR. I worked here less than 3 years and in that time the company had four different HR executives; gross mismanagement of employee benefits and payroll were the results. I found so many issues with my paychecks and benefits. Executives are very dismissive about legitimate payroll/benefits/safety concerns. It's ridiculous that something so routine gets messed up so regularly here. Nepotism is rampant. Executives regularly shoehorn their family and friends, who are completely unqualified, into departments that they don't belong in (putting marketing student into engineering department). Then they complain when those departments can't meet their outrageous throughput expectations. They tell you that you have to win the race but they give you a jalopy to drive. Just as you would expect, familial favoritism and drama severely impact company operations but the execs here just keep doing it. Disregard for employee health/safety. Executives unnecessarily traveled to a global COVID hotspot at the height of the pandemic to explore outsourcing American jobs to Mexico. I was told by an executive that they seldom wore masks and typically met with others in confined spaces. They apparently contracted the virus, promptly returned to the office without quarantining, and likely caused an outbreak within the company. The company's COVID response was abysmal and a clear demonstration of their willingness to sacrifice employee health just to make a buck for themselves. Virtually no WFH accommodations were provided for my teams despite the acquisition of a hefty PPP loan. Additionally they seem to think that safety, in a manufacturing facility with so much dangerous equipment, is a part time job. They only occasionally have a safety manager on staff; usually that position is employed part-time and on contract. They have full-time safety problem that they won’t commit appropriate resources to. Executives here obtain and use confidential and proprietary information from competitors without permission and then fire employees for refusing to violate the law. The totally unethical business practices of this company are disgusting and the closer to working with executives that you get, the more revolting the behavior you'll see from them.

Thank you for sharing! As you may or may not be aware, our Human Resources department has really come to light starting at the beginning of 2020 with a new HR Manager and HR Generalist. As we have been building a strong structured department where the sole purpose is to help build and enrich our culture, it has provided us the opportunity to really examine where Hammerton can improve. In 2020 and throughout this year, our focus has been on the main processes and procedures that were indeed missing in the employee lifecycle. For example, we switched to a streamlined and more efficient HRIS system, restructured and improved our health care benefits, developed a robust on-boarding and off-boarding process, examined our compensation philosophy, created more in-depth career paths for all of our employees, started a leadership training program, and focused heavily on the health and safety of our employees -- especially as the unforeseen pandemic hit. In reference to the COVID-19 pandemic, we communicated continuously through regular stand-up meetings and emails, we set up hand sanitizer stations and took daily temperature readings, displayed COVID safety signage throughout our facility, and created a large ‘COVID News’ bulletin board that was constantly updated. We also mandated masks for everyone who came on to our property. We still communicate updates as necessary. Although we have made some great strides to building an even better company, we recognize that we can always keep improving. This is where you can help! Below is a link that has been recently sent out to all of our previous employees. If you are willing, we would love to hear more from you! We appreciate all the feedback we can get as to help us evaluate if we are on the right track in our improvements. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CPKD9YW Sincerely, Stephanie Clausen HR Manager
