Pros

Smart colleagues, nice office, quality research tools, accessible C-Suite and growth opportunities.

Cons

Soft line drawn for work/life balance. Minimal compensation and benefits. Quick project turnaround times that don't allow for quality assurance. Felt dispensable as a mid-level researcher.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I’m sorry to read that you felt that your compensation and benefits didn’t meet your expectations. We’re upfront with all applicants about the salary bands for various roles when they join Hanover. We hire exceptional talent, train them well, give them more exposure to client interactions and advanced research methodologies faster than other firms, and they have the opportunity to advance faster at Hanover than anywhere else. Also, our employee surveys suggest that Hanover’s benefits are excellent. We offer comprehensive benefits to our employees that are heavily subsidized by the company to reduce the total out of pocket costs for our staff. We of course make every attempt to drive efficiency and shorter timelines for our clients in our research process, but never at the cost of delivering quality information to our clients. Over 90% of client respondents are "very satisfied" or "satisfied" with our research. That said, I am sorry you felt dispensable as a researcher – you were not. Our business is built on the contributions of extraordinarily talented individuals like yourself. I wish your manager or I had the opportunity to discuss this with you so that we could help reinforce the direct line that exists between your work and our success as a business.

Pros

Option for remote work 1 day per week or to go remote full time if you move. Some nice people you can make friends with.

Cons

Sometimes, other employees don't treat you very well. They are overly judgemental and negative about other people in a way that inhibits teamwork and collaboration. If they practiced judging others with humility and empathy, they would have a better work environment.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your time at Hanover Research. I'm sorry to read that you don't feel like you are treated well. This is unusual feedback as most employees, including the Content team members, highlight their coworkers as one of the best parts of working at Hanover. Managers tend to be attentive and supportive but we do not shy away from providing feedback to our staff. As most researchers work on a large number of projects each year and receive feedback on each project from up to three people, it can feel judgmental or hypercritical a times. Our intention is always to strive for excellence and even our most experienced researchers receive feedback on how to improve their projects. If you are finding the feedback difficult to hear, I encourage you to work with your manager to find a mode of communication and type of language that will allow her/him to share feedback with you in a way that still makes you feel supported.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It is disappointing to read that you are not enjoying your time at the company and do not see our growth as positive. The Development Associate role is an entry level position and individuals joining us often have never worked anywhere else before. We have clear expectations in terms of showing up to work on time each day and completing daily tasks, etc. Managers are checking on the status of these tasks and holding employees accountable for their output. I am sorry that this feels like micromanagement to you. As staff move up within the organization and develop more experience and expertise, they do function in a more autonomous capacity but regardless of level, everyone is accountable for their own success.
