Pros

Decent pay, benefits and PTO. Remote work and thorough training.

Cons

They lure you in with the promise of a low caseload (135) but the truth is that the workload is very intense. As a new care manager they overwhelm you with brand new members who are very lengthy to complete. Their care plan and post discharge documentation requirements are like a college essay and on top of that you’re audited every month and deducted points on what you miss. Then there’s the IVR (phone) system! You’re unable to walk away without changing your status even if its a quick trip to the bathroom. We were required to answer our teammates incoming calls and take a message. We’re also required to be available for a certain timeframe of the day to answer phones which disturbs work flow. If you miss a call it counts towards your “abandonment rate” which is very anxiety inducing. My manager was the micromanagement queen, she would call multiple times a day on teams and did not believe in just answering an email, she had to call me and overly explain things like Im a child. I truly felt like I was back in school. She would say things like “we cannot stay stagnant” even though I was meeting my metrics. Only 4 people on the team could be out at a time which is not ideal specially during the holidays. Like I said in my title i have never left a job quickly enough. My anxiety was through the roof trying to meet their demans and expectations. I have worked for a couple of other health plans throughout my career and have never experienced anything like this! Stay away if you’re looking for flexibility!
