Horrible Leadership

Pros

None that outweigh poor leadership

Cons

- Inexperienced ego driven leadership that is focused on company growth at all cost - Everyone is out for themselves so no mentorship and employees relationships are superficial - No career growth potential, limited number of director roles and need to be popular to get them - DEI is just something they claim to believe in but don’t really support or endorse. - CEO only wants to hear good news and info, never any issues or honest feedback - SUPER LOW PAY

Pros

Technical knowledge is top tier, although that does vary from sector to sector. They embrace researching and developing new technologies (most of the time). QC process tend to be pretty good, but some sectors (previously offices) have a bit more slack in their standards and reviews than they probably should. I have seen an increase in transparency regarding high level decisions since we became an ESOP, which is a welcome breath of fresh air. Benefits package is reasonably good. 401k match is probably slightly above average the industry average and the health and dental plans are decent. ESOP shares are a nice bonus as well. Salary has been improving as well, although it is still probably a bit lower than industry average for high performers.

Cons

As stated in the cons, the pay has got better, but it is still a bit low for higher performing employees, especially in the more expensive cities with offices. While I think those outputting average amounts of work who put in 40 hours a week are likely where they should be, the minority that are truly working overtime and/or are generating larger amounts of designs could probably still get a raise by going elsewhere, though that deficit in pay has definitely shrunk over the last year. Promotions can be overly influenced by matters outside an employees control. While I do think some shifts in how they’re handled recently have made it better, I’ve also seen multiple occasions of people being promoted because they have the favor of someone at a high enough level. While there’s going to be some of that at any company, I do think making efforts to promote people based as much upon skill and effort as possible is something Henderson should work at.
