Pros

Great place to learn technical aspects of design. Great resources and tools.

Cons

Overworked and underpaid. 45-50+ hour weeks were pretty much the norm. Management that can actually make decisions on staffing are so far removed from design staff that designer struggles are not taken seriously.

Thank you for taking the time and providing us with feedback. We’re glad you found our education and mentorship programs to be beneficial and hope that what you learned continues to serve you well in future endeavors. Temporary upticks in workload aren’t unusual in our industry. However, we offset that through our flexibility, which allows employees to “flex” hours worked beyond 40 hours per week as necessary. We strive to align our pay and benefits with the industry at large, if you have further questions about your compensation please reach out to us at 913-742-5000 and ask for your HR Business Partner.

Not What it Used to be

Pros

Flexible work hours, good PTO policy

Cons

Office politics is rampant and used to make decisions on promotions, too many changes too fast, stagnant compensation structure (raises based on review score, bonuses a set % of base salary dependent on company success not personal success), the ESOP structure is a joke, too many people on overhead compared to the number of people working on projects, most of the experienced people have left or are leaving.

As a growing organization, we’re committed to intentionally evolving to meet the current and future needs of our employee-owners. Any change we undertake is centered around ensuring the long-term stability and success of our firm, which translates to the personal prosperity of everyone on our team given our status as a 100% employee-owned ESOP. Whether it’s regarding the process behind our promotions or our compensation and bonus structure, we’re strive to provide clear and consistent communication to foster understanding across our company. We’ll be sure to revisit our approach based on your feedback to further boost understanding of these factors, which are respectively driven by both personal and companywide performance as well as level of experience and responsibilities. While they may not be directly billable, functions like accounting, business development, human resources, IT, and legal are important, especially for a firm of our size and growth trajectory. In addition to ensuring we operate efficiently so engineers can do their best work, these departments also play an important role in securing projects and supporting our clients. We welcome the opportunity to have an in-depth discussion on these matters to clarify any misunderstanding and adequately address the particulars of your experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at any time at 913-742-500 to speak with an HR Business Partner. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Bait and Switch

Pros

job location, insurance, volunteer initiatives

Cons

Unrealistic expectations, long hours, poor onboarding process, poor company structure, dishonesty during interview process, poor quality of work, and unprofessional treatment by tenured employees. I experienced the exact same things mentioned in the Oct 28, 2021 review. They said one thing in the interview and then pretended like it never happened after I started. This place works by hiring young college grads and overworking them with little pay. I guarantee the majority of the people that left good reviews here have never worked for a reputable or good company prior to working here and aren't used to being treated well.
