Pros

The amazing colleagues within the IT department are second to none. Amazing collaboration between teams working on EMR.

Cons

New leadership team in IT doesn't care about employees. Currently in the middle of a IT reorganization where offer letters were sent out without salary, benefit, bonus and merit increase details. Then, most offers were rescinded. Now employees have no idea what the future holds. Horrible roll out of reorganization with limited information for employees. Company hired a consultant and disregarded multiple complaints to HR from numerous full time employees and later extended that resources contract instead of addressing alarming issues related to that consultant. Maybe due to the consultant being a friend of the CIO from Sutter Health. Company culture has taken a nose dive. Hill Physicians was known for their investment in their employees and a great work culture, it has done a complete 180 and is headed down the wrong path. Company morale is the lowest it's ever been. Employee concerns are not being heard by leadership, in a management request to senior leadership to have a town hall meeting with the IT staff, senior leadership delegated the communication to go through the Managers and Supervisors rather than addressing the questions, concerns and issues themselves, putting a barrier between leadership and the IT resources. This is after senior leadership had told the IT group that there would be an open door policy. There is no open door policy, as witnessed in the response from senior leadership to the request to answer concerns first-hand. A meeting was held to discuss the reorganization effort, the Director that lead the meeting didn't have answers for questions and stammered through responses without truly answering the questions/concerns. This made a lot of the resources very concerned about their futures and livelihoods. Senior leadership have made the IT team feel expendable, even after the majority of resources worked well over 40 hours a week to meet project timelines/deadlines. Most were doing the work of 2 Analysts or sometimes even more. Stress mitigation with this job is non-existent, apparently we are just supposed to feel lucky that we even have a job to begin with.

Hill Physicians Medical Group Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We are sorry that your work experience with Hill Physicians Medical Group has been less than favorable. You’ve noted some serious “cons” about our work environment/office culture. If you would like to confidentially discuss your concerns further, I would be happy to talk or meet you in person. We are working very hard to balance transparency with some of the difficult challenges that we face today. Especially in times like this, where COVID make it difficult for us to come together. We will whole heartedly admit that the reorganization of IT has not been managed as well as we would have liked. In our efforts to make sure we had the best possible outcome for our employees and the company we made some mistakes that required us to take a step back, review the feedback and reassess. Mistakes happen in high functioning organizations, that’s ok. They are never fun but we try to pick ourselves up and move on. Step one is realizing that we are all imperfect and that it takes all of us to do it. Your feedback is important and we want to improve. We hope that you will help us be part of the solution. Sincerely, Gregg Smith-McCurdy, CIO

Pros

the cubicle community is nice, clean office, hybrid work, office location

Cons

I felt like I went back to the mid-early 2000s. A LOT is outdated. Leadership, directors, and people managers have not succeeded in finding the balance between holding staff accountable and micromanaging. Clear and blatant nepotism, high and frequent turnover, non-competitive pay, raises and bonuses are barely based on performance, poor training in most departments, HR unsuccessfully mediates/resolves hostile & toxic environments or borderline employee rights violations

Pros

you can work from home/remotely some. generally nice coworkers although very siloed and very little cooperation between departments. they will reimburse for licensing up to a predetermined amount. this can also be applied to ccm certification.

Cons

Its very clique-ish and you actually have to kiss & literally pay ($ in terms of gifts to) your boss if you want to be assigned enough work to meet your goals. If you can kiss and don't mind authoritarian style management, it could be for you. However, they keep all salaries below market. any bonus is only a % of that same low base compensation. there is no opportunity for advancement. Any opportunities that do come along are generally not made available to apply for or express interest in, but assigned to favorites. Many of their specialists are jumping ship for other medical groups or going cash. They are claiming lots of profits but it apparently is not going to their provider network and definitely not to the rank and file employees.
