      Pros

      Hilton is an awesome company to work for. The team member travel benefit is amazing and has let me stay in hotels in places I would never have been able to afford at insane rates. The people are all generally really fun and there is a good sense of camaraderie on the teams. The position itself is easy which is a plus. You also get really good hospitality industry knowledge by interfacing with so many stakeholders across revenue management, operations and digital.

      Cons

      You spend at least a quarter of your time just explaining the weekly variances between website revenue vs sites like expedia. Once you find the reason for that variance you are then tasked to come up with a plan, using no budget, to improve the hotel’s performance. Very silo'd. The eCommerce team has zero impact on the actual PPC strategy for hotels' day to day campaigns. If you want to do anything creative, you have to extract additional funds from hotels which is akin to pulling teeth. The role essentially boils down to letting the hotel know what happened last month and answering questions about why something is up or down while in the background you complete large checklists, content and image audits.
