Pros

Work from home Easy interview process Decent humans in pockets of the company They pay money in exchange for work

Cons

Pretty much everything else outside of the above. There's a lot of common themes in these reviews, a bunch of people telling a similar story about their experiences independent of one another has to have a ring of truth to it, yeah? Mico management Fear based management No "human first" anything A company chasing the almighty dollar at the cost of anything and anyone Bad people managers falling upward C Suite churn at alarming numbers Questionable selling ethics Low comp all around It really feels like the walls are caving in around the VC money taken and the company is using a shotgun approach to get anything to stick. Not interested in feedback, not interested in diversity, "our way or no way" and "we've always done it this way" are the fairest summaries of my time at HCP. Jobber, BuildOps, and Servicetitan will all hire you in this field and treat you like a human.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m sorry to hear that your time with the company didn’t reflect the mission-based, growth-oriented, and sustainably growing company we are building at HCP. We care deeply about our customers and live out our mission to Champion the Pro to Success by delivering product experiences that brings Pros revenue and gives them time back in their days. We are committed to helping every team member grow their skills, build their careers, and we hope everyone sees their time at HCP as a high-growth chapter in their journey. Finally, we know that our company’s growth depends on our ability to serve our Pros and provide a forum for our team to do their best work. Thank you again for your input, we’re sorry it didn’t work out for you here at HCP, and we appreciate any feedback we get that helps us improve. - John Martin, Chief Product Officer

Pros

Was a great place to work until they laid off 60+ just like that.

Cons

You get up and work hard every day. You focus on the company and give it your all. You're proud of your work. You do everything you can to contribute and put the pro's first. Then, out of no where, they fire an entire division. Just like that, everyone is gone. They didn't give anyone time to say goodbyes, they cut the cord in a matter of minutes. I would stay away. The upper management needs a total cleanse. It's funny because they act like they care about their employees. During town hall's they celebrate work anniversaries and accomplishments, that's obviously just a theatre act because your job isn't safe regardless of how long you've worked there.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, and for all your hard work while you were with Housecall Pro. Org changes are never easy and I’m sure it can feel like they are happening quickly. However, I can assure you that thought and care went into the decision as well as the communication to those impacted. This work allowed us to find other roles for the majority of the 60 employees; unfortunately we did not have roles available for everyone. We know as a company, we are only as good as our people; we care for all who work here and decisions regarding employment are never made lightly. I am sorry that you were impacted, and wish you the best in your future endeavors.- Sam Kanner, SVP, People

Pros

No Pros- Blue collar clients, blue collar colleagues. If you are a real tech professional whose contacts are C suite and V level executives , this job is NOT for you.

Cons

Required 200 calls daily. Lots of slog work. Repetitive and soul crushing, work, you’re a machine. Lots of verbal abuse from potential clients. Was sexually propositioned over the phone, by a plumber. The contacts are uneducated and have never heard of requesting the “do not call list”. Instead they will scream at you because they got another call from the company. Most clients are “mom and pop” businesses, with no sense of professionalism ( like house cleaners) who will say yes to a demo then not show up. Too dumb to be honest and just say no. Waste of a professional’s time.

First off, very sorry you were put in a tough position by the customer - that kind of behavior is not acceptable anywhere, in any walk of life. What I would suggest though is that not all people in the trades are like this one incident you had and to look down on the Pro en masse will never work in our business. Our Pros are extraordinary in so many ways - hard working, entrepreneurial, scrappy; just walk a day in their shoes, do the work they do and you will figure that out. If the job is not a great fit for you, if our mission of Championing the Pro is not your thing, you should go find the company and the customer that does light you up in this world. Life is short, your career is important, you should go find that fit and make the most of it.
