Pros

* Amazing group of founders- low ego, high EQ and high IQ * Execs ruthlessly focus on increasing revenue and decreasing costs * Management takes data driven and operationally sound approach to running business * Proven vertical SaaS plus payments business model and large home services market are recipe for good company and growth path

Cons

* Micromanagement is common and conflated internally with good, active management * Employees often treated like and referred to as resources, not people. Evident in employee burnout and turnover. * Hard to balance work and personal life. Also difficult to take PTO or parental leave without compromising performance trajectory, compensation, or employment.

Very thoughtful feedback, so thank you. I suspect the view of your comments is a glass half full or half empty one. I would agree with everything you said, but with context on some of the specific inputs. Whereas for you, the fit with our approach to management may not have been a good one and what I say, heck yes that is true, you say, heck no, that didn't work for me. Amazing group of founders - agree. That's a hell yes, not even a heck yes. Execs focused on growth and performance - agree, it's our job to look at 1) service to our mission (customer) and 2) service to our people and their success and 3) focus on our returns for investors. It's a business, after all, not a hobby. We are operators at our core, and arguably our operating skillset, across the company from product to the frontline, is a sustainable competitive advantage for HCP. Micromanagement is actually a positive when deployed situationally - it's a tool for someone who hasn't yet developed a skill and they need closer partnership on defining a solution, building that solution, owning that outcome. Andy Grove has a great perspective here in his book "High Output Management" as relates to Task Relevant Maturity. Worth a look. The employee comment - hard for me to get my head around it, though I hear you. Our single greatest resource, as a company, is our people. We have a stellar track record for investing in our people, our teams, and helping each person to develop their skillset and contribution to the business. That said, it's an intense group of high performing, passionate people. Work life balance, as we've scaled, is different today than in the early years. We have a lot more specialists in place vs generalists who have to wear 6 hats. And we've gone from 275 people to north of 1,000 in 15 months, which means we have a LOT more bandwidth available to us. I hope that our people are living more balanced lives today than two years ago. I know I am. Reputation - well, if I look at our scores here in Glassdoor, I'd suggest we're on a good path. When we delved into our employee surveys, we have validation of the same. There is always room for improvement and I hope we always maintain site of that. Thank you again for the feedback. Very helpful.

Pros

- Decent product that's really only suited for small businesses - Positioned because it is *cheap* - Lots of features - Adaptable to different industries - Zero outbound prospecting for AEs - Aggressive discounts and promos to get people to try it

Cons

YOU DON'T GET PAID ON HALF YOUR SALES - Sales periods are two weeks in which you have to hit a an MRR qualifier before you can collect any commission. The qualifier is roughly half of your expected sales so you're doing half the work for free - Base salary is pathetic - Benefits are not great - Terrible lead generation. SDRs hound leads and ask if they're interested in "growing the business" or "being more efficient." Of course every business wants those and there's rarely any additional discovery which leads to terrible prospects with no interest - Even if it's not a fit, management expects you to try and force any reason to get the sale. If it doesn't close it counts against your metrics. - Almost no interaction with any sort of leadership. Team leaders are more baby sitters than an actual manager and provide relationship outside of asking why things didn't close - Wanna take a bathroom break? Announce it to everyone so your time can be tracked - All hands meetings are 75-90 mins. 80% of them are just highlighting internal promotions or congratulating individuals on their tenure,

Micromanaging, false promises, and no recognition

Pros

Remote work and good colleagues next to you in your individual team

Cons

If you're interested in being micromanaged, then this place is for you. If you love when middle managers blame project failures on their direct reports, then look no further. No kidding, if you work 150% of your abilities, expect about the same recognition as when you work 70% of your abilities. The well-liked managers fail upward and the top of the organization is barely aware of whats happening on the ground floor. Prepare to be micromanaged until you're overwhelmed and when the project goes off-track, one way or another, it'll be your fault. They used to preach diversity and inclusion until it was called out that all of management is white and now they don't parade around their diversity anymore.

The engine of any business is middle management and the teams that they serve. If we aren't doing our part, reach out to me and let me know and I will see what we can do to support you more effectively. A great manager should be able to recognize the specific skills where you need very prescriptive management (a very positive form of micro-management) and those skills where you have high competency and should be autonomous. Andy Grove has a great way of explaining this in his famous treatise on management called, aptly, "High Output Management". It's up to us to do our part and if we're not, that's on us. Reach out and I'll see what I can do to help.
