Pros

There are a lot of wonderful people that work at I-CAR, you can find them in both offices as well as in the field. The vision and mission are admirable and the work that I-CAR does for the industry is invaluable and fulfilling.

Cons

The move to a sales driven organization has changed the focus of the work that is done and it seems to be all about maximum revenue. This does not align with the status as a not for profit. The actions that are being taken and the change in behavior are driving away long time instructors, volunteers, and employees that no longer feel as though they work for/with the company they believed in so much.

Pros

Great (and very necessary) service provided to industry; Volunteer-based organization where volunteers are very passionate about what they do. Salaries and benefits are average.

Cons

Culture of "insiders" who are resistant to exploring different approaches to business. There is a constant maneuvering by higher-level employees, board members, and key industry people to find positions of power within the organization (paid and unpaid), often at the expense of good teammembers. Projects and business processes are often short-sighted and decisions are emotional rather than fact-based. The advise of team-members with expertise is often overlooked in favor of politics and personal relationships.
