A once-inspiring mission being lost to ego

Pros

Many of us joined this company deeply inspired by its mission, using technology to reduce the housing crisis. The work itself is meaningful and the talent here is extraordinary: smart, passionate people who genuinely believe in building something that matters. There was once a strong sense of shared purpose, innovation, and the belief that we could do good through our work.

Cons

Unfortunately, that original spirit has eroded. The company is struggling to transition from a scrappy startup mentality reliant on maximum effort at all times, to a sustainable, well-led organization that plans, prioritizes, and uses their human capital wisely. Leadership demands more and more while offering less and less consideration to employees in return. The CEO has dug in his heels to a culture of exhaustion and optics rather than alignment, ownership and trust. The latest decision mandating six days a week in the office, is the clearest example of how disconnected he has become from the people he is entrusted to lead. What could have been a turning point toward maturity and focus has instead truly demoralized the team and triggered a silent domino effect that will make success an uphill battle. Tragically, it’s likely the damage will only be recognized when it’s far too late.

out of touch leadership and a culture of burnout

Pros

Working here used to be exciting — until leadership lost touch with reality.

Cons

Our CEO recently sent an 11 PM Slack message declaring we should all be in the office six days a week. It perfectly sums up the problem: decisions made in isolation, with no regard for work-life balance, morale, or basic respect for employees’ time. The company talks about innovation and “ownership,” but what’s really expected is obedience and exhaustion. There’s no trust in remote work, no transparency around strategy, and no awareness that constant micromanagement drives good people out. The energy that once made this place special has been replaced by delusion and burnout. Unless leadership wakes up and starts treating employees like professionals instead of factory line workers, the best talent will continue walking out the door — and they’ll be right to do so.

Stay Away! New Expectation for 6 days in Office

Pros

Smart and Friendly people. Pay was good, until they told us we are 6 days a week in person, the pay looks alot less impressive now.

Cons

The Founder has lost it. Almost all of senior leadership has left or been fired. We were told at 11:30PM on a Monday that we are now a 6 days a week in-person company. 6 days a week, but there will be lunch! lol This was rolled out with no HR plan and was a total shock to the remaining “senior leadership”. Complete disrespect for employees and our families, treating us like small children. Failing company, with a delusional founder.
