Not a great place

Pros

Opportunities to work with modern technologies and contribute to meaningful projects. Some team members are collaborative and supportive, and there are chances to learn from experienced colleagues.

Cons

Heavy micro-management culture where small details are controlled rather than trusting developers to deliver. Suggestions and technical solutions are often ignored or dismissed, even when they are valid or later adopted when suggested by someone else. Decision-making can feel inconsistent and unclear, leaving employees uncertain about expectations or priorities. Contributions are not always recognised, while mistakes are highlighted quickly. Communication from leadership can be one-sided, with little openness to feedback or alternative approaches.

Pros

Nice well located office, free food, barista coffee

Cons

Management in the Production Team are too cliquey. You can’t speak to your direct manager about something without the fear it will be discussed and mocked at brunch the following weekend. Senior management are unapproachable unless you’re someone who wants to get drunk with party with the CEO at every opportunity. New rules are being implemented every 5 minutes, but there’s no guidance or clear communication offered. How can you expect us to action something without telling us and explaining the process. New three strikes and you’re out process adds additional and unnecessary stress to an already stressful job. No wiggle room for sickness, once you hit a certain marker you’re questioned heavily on why you were sick and given a warning (even if you’re within the 7 day self certification window) Pay is well below industry standard across the board, unless you’re in Sales.

Disappointing

Pros

Opportunity to work with some amazing people

Cons

The ultimate goal is protect the profits of Christian Beck. In march 2020, 25% of the staff were let go and the company went on to hit profit milestones. They are now rehiring for those same roles. It’s a real shame as they talk the talk, say that they are like a family but when it comes down to the crunch, you are treated as nothing. Developer salaries really low. It’s almost impossible to cash out your shares
