Pros

Great discount, beautiful product and for the most part, awesome clients; I have become friends with several of them. As a manager, there is no blackout for PTO which is unheard of in retail. PTO is moxed with sick days so as a newbie you will get 4 weeks of paid time off plus 5 extra holiday days (paid) on any given fiscal year.

Cons

J Crew tends to hire older managers , think 50 + years old who are extremely difficult to manage if you are younger than them (which is my case). The company is so afraid of getting sued that they let people get away with a lot of crap while you are stuck dealing with under performing managers. As a Store Director, you better be ready to become a nanny, you will not be able to coach managers/asssociates or hold them accountable since JCrew lets them underperform without consecuences; coach them and you will have HR knocking on your door thw very following day. Because company just went through re structuration, payroll keeps being cut but workload keeps increasing; hard to stay motivated/engaged when there is only so much you can do.

Pros

There is a good amount of associates that are nice working with in this company. In general, I think J.Crew hires good people and I think that is why I enjoyed working with everyone at my retail location. I like that the company cares about the quality customer service and that they come out with a lot of new styles and are original in what they come up with. That is always fun to talk about with co-workers and with customers. The best part is this place cares about being helpful and knowledgeable and there are not a lot of retail stores like that.

Cons

Personal stylist stole my sales to meet quota. I always input who the sales of the purchase should go to honestly and if the customer doesn't remember or didn't get helped that visit I put the sale as a "house" sale so it doesn't go to anyone. Its not that big of a deal when I think about it, but since it is a performance tracker and our personal stylist lies I do care.

Pros

This is a great job for a college student. The schedule is flexible to accommodate changing class schedules, and you can do your school work during down times. Benefits are great (arguably the best in Lynchburg, VA), employee discounts are awesome and you get a lot of PTO. This is an ideal position for someone who is simply looking for an income to pay bills. I was on the Email/Chat team where we could listen to music as we worked. Basically, J.Crew puts a lot of emphasis on customer service, so CSRs get a lot of perks.

Cons

Lots of favoritism and job politics. It's hard to get ahead if a member of management simply does not like you. Also, it's required that you work one day of the weekend, Saturday or Sunday.
