Pros
Benefits, including inexpensive insurance premiums, generous pension, they contribute 97 cents if each dollar. I loved my job when I had the chance to perform without the micromanaging from a clueless boss.
Cons
Managers don’t have your back. Individuals who are promoted because they play politics or kiss up to upper management. Managers are not held accountable. My boss would hold on to audit requests for months and then distribute them to our group stating they were due in 2 days. This meant we had to come in early, stay late and take work home. She kept her cards close to her chest and took every opportunity to criticize our team members. Upper management did nothing as she talked a good game. She also took credit for my work, presenting projects in meetings like she did it. I call it the mafia mentality. It’s who know that gets you promoted not your qualifications or the best candidate. In addition, It is so top heavy, so many directors and VP’s, but that’s how they justify upping salaries. The entire system needs a good shaking and an in depth audit as to how tax payer dollars are so misused. This won’t happen as county commissioners are buddies with upper management and everything gets approved. Jobs are posted and interviews held but jobs are already promised to friends or employees who play the game.
