Cons

The pay is the biggest con of all. At the store that I work at, you only make commission maybe twice a year. The rest of the time, you're making hourly. When you don't make commission, they put you on an "unearned" list, which over time takes away your commission percentage until it hits rock bottom. The only way to continually make commission is to work in a high-volume store(2mil+). Also, they expect you to make big sales, but it's impossible when they're offering a Buy One, Get Two Free deal. I have worked for the company twice now, once in the past and currently. Before, they ran sales maybe 2-3 times a year -- now they're running 2 or 3 sales at one time. Sometimes it's quite hard to really know what's on sale. They have really devalued the product with the sales in the past year. For example, before if I sold 3 Signature suits, that would have totaled out to be $2400. Now, with these sales, most of the time I'm selling 3 Signature suits for the price of one. I will never be able to sale a Signature suit at it's regularly price ever again, the customers have come to expect really great deals, which the company can do because they manufacture all their own products. Joseph A. Bank is no longer a Fine Men's Clothier, but a Fine Discount Clothier.

Pros

good product, nice work environment, sucessful company and brand, good benefits, good people You can make about $40,000 per year if you are in a high-volume store ($2 million in sales/yr). Great customers.

Cons

No training (in my store). Had to learn on the job after making several mistakes. Not much support from store management in training. They did not want to train. hours 5 a.m. to 11p.m. twice a year during big sales; otherwise, straight 40 hours schedule and days off vary weekly depending upon store needs pay Your income as a salesperson will depend on the store's sales volume. I make $8/hr and I and the other sales associates only make commission (6% after quota) about 5 out of 52 weeks of the year. $250/week; then, during big sales, $8/hr + commissions not more than $300 You are required to sale more per hour once you enter overtime, so you get penalized when you work over 40 hours during "big sale" weeks.
