Pros

People are nice and the atmosphere is easy going between restructurings. Leadership is pleasant and pay is better than some similar private jobs within the county. You can perform average and stay on as a great employee its far from cut throat just do your work and be pleasant.

Cons

Constant restructuring. I have been with the agency for several years now and its the system is always changing. It is difficult to get a clear message as to where things are going because even the people above you say they need to get back to you. Your not going to be recognized or promoted for amazing work you will be treated the same as the person who does average.

Pros

OK benefits, low pressure work environment where individual effort can make a real impact. Very rewarding…. Large organization, where you can grow, learn, and find new opportunities.

Cons

Fragremented command structure throughout the 35+ departments makes it difficult to push standardized practices across the board. Every department feels a bit like an island, some employees seem unaware that their department is part of the County. Pay is poor and rasies dont keep up with cost of living/inflation.

Pros

The benefits were good. The salary was decent, but not stellar. The supervisors were kind and compassionate.

Cons

Upper management is not friendly, or grateful for their employees. Raises are few and far between, making salaries fall further and further behind average salaries elsewhere. There is a strong belief that you are *lucky* to work for JoCo and employees just need to be grateful to be employed there.
