Pros

Lots of opportunities to do a wide variety of things. Very flexible and understanding in terms of work/life balance. Small team so frequently see a project from start to finish. Great benefits package. Good team atmosphere.

Cons

Can sometimes feel like direction keeps changing. Can be very stressful at times. Pay is on low side (but not horrible) and organization is very flat, meaning career advancement is difficult.

Pros

Great benefits, Bonuses, and average pay. It depends on the job. If you don't mind spending 80 % of your time monitoring a production line and performing routine duties such as weighing parts then the entry level production engineer is a good place to start out of college to get experience in a manufacturing plant.

Cons

Loud, poor communication, messy on the production lines. Many union operators are a pain to work with. They are always trying to get away with doing the bare minimum and get very angry if they feel the production lines are running too fast. They can get spiteful and start damaging parts which makes the engineer on the line look bad.
