Pros

Pretty flexible and understanding about employees needing to come in late because of appointments or sick kids or whatever life stuff comes up. Generally no issues with time off requests. Depending on your department, some of the managers are very chill and understanding and awesome to work under. Pretty good health insurance. Generally speaking there are some good (lower level) people working here, and a handful of good middle management. Good work/life balance.

Cons

Upper Management is Not Great and don't really listen to the concerns of the low level peons. Salaries are kinda below industry standards, and annual increases never keep up with the rising cost of living. This place tends to be kind of a revolving door for talent, since the company generally won't increase salaries in order to keep talent. WFH policies prior to the pandemic were bizarre, dependent on the mood of your specific manager, rather than having an overall policy that works for all corporate office workers. The pandemic may have changed that since it forced everyone to go WFH, but future policies about WFH or Hybrid work are unclear post pandemic. There are also not a lot of opportunities for upward career movement. Very very little diversity... especially at the top. Let's just say that you might be blinded if you're looking at upper management in the sunlight.

Pros

Good steady pay, good benefits and good yearly bonus. Flexible time off.

Cons

Save your mental health and apply somewhere else. Anywhere else. Qualified employees who excel at their job are underutilized until they leave or are laid off so a friend or family member can fill that job. Yelling and poor instructions is the only mode of operation. If a mistake is made it’s automatically your fault. Your ideas and input will be ignored. Communication from management to line employees is nonexistent usually. Traditional flow of information for projects doesn’t exist. You have to guess what is needed and you will still be under informed. It’s your fault that you didn’t get it right regardless of the fact that you didn’t get all the information you needed in the first place. Last minute deadlines and emergencies are the norm because management doesn’t know how to anticipate or plan effectively. And it will be your fault. HR will not help you at Johnstone corporate. They will process your paycheck and give you benefits. Anything else you are on your own. Apply someplace else. Your mental health will thank you.

Pros

Hybrid work environment The employees on my team were fantastic

Cons

Leadership change at the top, new CEO is not great. They were purchased by private equity, and now all the benefits they used to offer are dwindling.
