Pros

Benefit package was good. Health Insurance, wellness program, 401K, car allowance (for sales), etc. All were very competitive in the market. Company spent a lot of money on flashy sales meetings, so was able to see the world on Kemin's dime.

Cons

The management level employees are a total joke. Often times lacking any management experience at all, just put in place because they had been at Kemin the longest. Most of these longer term employees could not move on and do something that was different. I heard so many times "this is just what we've always done". There is a slight undertone of sexism at this company. Several male management employees treated their female subordinate poorly. Chris Nelson as a business person doesn't go well with his PhD scientist mind. Each business unit operates as a silo and doesn't work together. One business unit may be doing well, so then sends entire business unit on a full company paid trip to Hawaii and gets paid bonuses, while the other business unit who didn't meet budget doesn't get anything. This further divides employees and sets them up for internal unhealthy competitiveness.

Pros

Health benefits are good when they cover things & procedures. Several doctors aren't in their network.

Cons

Ice age technology, no remote work options, no work life balance, bully style management, unreasonable deadlines, employee expertise not valued, sales people are highly favored, poor & very low/negative morale. Raises barely, if at all, cover health coverage increases. Very little advancement unless you are part of the "in" crowd. Silos & no trust at all levels. Very little teamwork efforts.

Pros

Lots of job openings. Some facilities are new. Some employees are dedicated and care about the company and its mission.

Cons

My experience working at Kemin was that is was a very toxic environment. Many people are very jaded and bitter, some just care enough to collect their salary. Most managers and above operate in a CYA manner and will happily throw anyone under the bus. Turn-over is atrocious, anyone who can find something better does. A few employees have been there most/all of their working lives and don't know any different. A lot of "We've always done things this way", which stymies growth. Many frustrations come from the CEO since he has his hands in every decision and will change his mind frequently, stalling any positive change. There are many employees that in any other company would have been fired years ago for either gross incompetence or unprofessional conduct.
