Pros

Work can be interesting. Several friendly people here.

Cons

Management in business units are ignorant. Managers have less aptitude towards science than their team. Company hires post doc after post doc and never give them positions. I've grown tired of making friends with them. They work very hard and are very skilled yet get let go for incredulous reasons. The R&D teams are spread thin and have too many projects which delays large advancement of projects. Silo style management causes poor communication between business units. Constant battles over resources. Multiple people working independently on the same solution or exclusive solutions to the same problem. Emotional management, through and through. CEO gives purposefully unrealistic deadlines to goad people into ridiculous work efforts for no real goal.

Pros

Stable employment, wellness program, great longevity program, benefits. Good work life balance. Good incentives for hourly. Good communication in general from corporate.

Cons

Great scientists do not always make great business leaders. Finance ran company. Directors are rewarded for bullish behavior as executives turn a blind eye to inappropriate behavior, toxic work environment at certain BU's, employees transfer from this BU to much more friendly BU's, very high t/o, and stress at one particular BU that sandbags financials, execs do not take employee survey concerns serious, mid level management salary lower than national average and same level bonus as hourly employees. Directors do not follow policies as required by hourly employees, inconsistent direction from top down, constantly chasing competitors. Wastes a ton of money on foreign travel that rarely is business justified and then budgets are scrutinized to pennies. Technology in manufacturing sites is far behind competition, looks the same as technology from 80's. Management very much reminds me of high school, bullying, social clicks, favoritism, sexest, political, egos get in the way of good business decisions, values are posted, but few leaders are held accountable to follow.

Incompetence

Pros

High turn over rate creates many open positions for movement within the company. Although the company looks more to the outside than their own people for advancement.

Cons

Upper management is totally incompetent and out of touch with reality. I have worked at Kemin for 5 years and every year it kept getting worse. The work atmosphere and politics bordered on being intolerable. It appears to me that they reward incompetence.
