- free makeup - lvmh, brand names in resume - That is truly it. Some fake-nice people, but understand no one is truly your ally. (That's just the beauty and fashion industry. It's typical. Just learn to be the better person than stoop to their level.)
Cons
I want to communicate the truth of my experience and not exaggerate it to help candidates or future employees recognize what is going on before they get extremely disappointed to something they weren't expecting. FIRST REG FLAGS: When I first applied here, it seemed a bit last minute on their part. The process seemed a bit disorganized and caught some errors in their projects. They also seemed to not care about the errors when pointed out as well. The interviewers were sometimes late and stated that they were exhausted. As I got interviewed by other members, I learned it's VERY important for me to also interview them with as many questions as well. When they would talk about their environment, they would get nervous and annoyed, leading them to spill out info that they don't enjoy their work environment. Saying things to, such as, "there's things here and there with people, but I guess sometimes good vibes", and "there's a lot of personalities here" along with some eye-rolls. Lastly, their process sounded extremely disorganized even to their employees, as I got an early taste of that prior. LOW PAY: After receiving an offer, I got 10k less than what I was originally making. In the bay area, it is a bit ridiculous to see and degrading how much less they pay their employees. Negotiation is hardly anything there. But understand, it's not just you, EVERYONE is struggling financially there for Bay Area pricing. It's sad. ABSURDLY UNPROFESSIONAL: Getting to work with members and communicating with them about work, projects, and processes is a nightmare. They all don't care. They just care about the look of them being in this brand and how they are perceived publicly. Members start arguments with each other. It's a bit barbaric. There is definitely favoritism played and a means for people to take pictures just to show receipts to others about even a simple mistake, so they can be praised. If this sounds like the movie, Mean Girls or Devil Wears Prada, it's really not that far off. It's quite disgusting. 9am-5pm, is not a thing. Be prepared to work long hours with people that disregard and disgust you, and overhaul of assignments. MY ADVICE? Know your priorities. What do you value most about your job? Your mental health? Great community? Great competitive pay? Growth? Your ethics? You won't get that here. But if none of these bother you and you have thick skin, go for it. Sure, it'll look good on your resume, but know the price is your mental and physical health. I encourage people to listen to their gut feeling either route. BUT REMEMBER, you are more than this job.
