Pros

The Foundation offers excellent benefits, salaries competitive with corporate America, and generous time off compatible with schools, as education is its area of focus.

Cons

Management is schizophrenic, there is an inherent lack of focus, and it has a nasty habit of firing really talented people on a whim and not because of performance issues.

Pros

Excellent salaries and benefits; Generally positive reputation for future of education work, Strive and New Tech Network; Strong relationships with U.S. Department of Education.

Cons

Nearly universal lack of accountability and performance measurement (don't like a goal? change it. don't like the new one? change it again!); A few toxic employees bully and browbeat at will with no apparent consequences -- how many women need to be re-assigned or depart the company before this is stopped?

Strange and Somewhat Toxic Culture

Pros

Pay is good for a nonprofit. Benefits good too (health, dental, retirement, etc). Convenient location downtown & nice looking office space. Because there are multiple subsidiaries, there is some opportunity to network and meet people inside the company.

Cons

High turnover in some depts (the depts/subsidiaries are EDWorks, STrive, Ohio Education Matters, and New Tech Networks). Some nice people, but def lots of folks who just arent friendly. Given how small the place is, not a ton of room for professional growth. Hard to get in here unless you know someone. Certain subsidiaries have more power & influence than others. Overall, culture can be kind of toxic and generally bad; sometimes people don't speak during the day (just a lot of rudeness). No training or professional development and no diversity. I wouldnt recommend anyone work here unless they are actually unemployed and need a paycheck.
