Pros
Front line employees in all areas from finance to design are great. It's a company with lots of amazing history that is staffed by friendly people with enthusiasm, not cultish evangelism for the outdoor lifestyle.
Cons
However, advancement opportunities are extremely limited and often politically motivated. What's even more unfortunate is that when higher level positions open up, the company usually looks out of house. As a result, management is isolated and cliquish, laboring under the misapprehension that when things are good for them, they must be good for everyone else. Bean also takes great advantage of the fact that they are one of the largest employers in Maine, because in many fields, the options are suck it up at Bean or leave the state.
