Pros

The company cares about community it is in, in terms of communtiy support. An excellent employee discount program for retail purchases. An excellent health care program, although relatively expensive. An adequate 401k program. Support for outdoor endeavors within both the local and national communities. LLbean does provide a good pay scale compared to comparable jobs within the same markets.

Cons

-unclear expectations -managers do not give adequate feedback -poor employee review process -extreme favoritism within workgroups -unrealistic expectations with regard to scheduling -In many ways the company is stuck in the past.(Especially in regards to computer related systems). It always seems like LL Bean is a step or two behind the rest of the world in terms of technology.

Pros

Company promotes balance of work and personal life. Gives resources for employees to enjoy the outdoors. Great benefits package and discount. Cares and gets involved in the community and the environment.

Cons

Management is not always qualified or experienced in the positions they are in. Managers do not always provide clear expectations and do not give feedback, coaching, or counseling until annual reviews are given. Employees are not able to correct or improve performance until it is too late. Managers are not good leaders.

Pros

A company internationally recognized as having world class customer service. A strong spirit of community within. Good benefit program. Very loyal customer base. In many instances employees are empowered to do what's necessary to satisfy a customer.

Cons

Retail is retail. Many of the tasks are menial. Much of the work is done within cubicle farms. Some middle management have been known to regard hourly employees as trained monkeys. The company is large enough that it's frequently difficult to react quickly to change in the market.
