base pay is low long hours, especially on gamedays

Many believe that the pay is low because this is the sports industry. However, there is more than enough money to go around. Executives spend more money on dinners, alcohol and travel (often for themselves, not prospects/clients) than one can imagine. Before COVID they would travel on private/semi-private jets to daily/weekly meetings when this could be done over the phone/zoom. Money doesn’t seem to be a problem for this, yet they’re comfortable paying entry-level positions $30k/year. Commissions is confusing and it comes down to the size of the book you inherit. If you have a small book, you can bring in a ton of money into the company and see only a fraction of a percent of that you brought in. There are certainly perks with working in sports (tickets, meals, gear, etc.) however the technical “benefits” are pretty weak. There is no 401k match - I’ve never seen a company of this size have zero 401k match. Corporate talks about how much of a "family" this company is all of the time, then they lay off a ton of people only to repost their jobs a few weeks later.
