Worst Place to Work

Pros

Benefits (Health Insurance and Paid Time Off), Free Parking, Casual Dress Code. Non Director level employees were good, honest, hard working people

Cons

Rated 1 star because if I left it blank you may think I skipped that part! I worked at the corporate office and it was a very unpleasant experience. I was micro managed beyond belief. Then when I would not micro manage my staff or write them up for the most silly mundane things I would be treated unfairly. This company really does look for any stupid reason to write someone up. I heard it said many of times to document everything we can so we have a case when we fire them. Basically you show up day one and they are already plotting a case against you. At one point I was working 12+ hour days and it still was never good enough. Nothing you could ever do was good enough. I repeatedly would hear conversations about prior employees and that "they sucked" or "Well we were going to fire him/ her...." These statements were untrue. It was all delusional so they could feel like nobody that was good would actually resign working there. Often times these reviews are biased, but I have read the other reviews posted for this company and they are spot on - I witnessed the same events by the same people mentioned. There is a small circle of people running that company and if you are not liked by them then you will be forced out - they will find a way. I witnessed people harassed and abused (mentally and physically) by Sr Management. One Director would lash out at staff and throw objects at them in disgust - YES, I witnessed that! It is really a shame because this could be a wonderful place to work since it has a great mission. This was by far the worst place I have ever worked. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Best decision I made was quitting - I was begged to stay even though I later found out from former coworkers that I "Sucked".... Not surprising, as that was the story I always heard about anyone else who left.

Great employer and company

Pros

I have been working at LIFE Pittsburgh for over 6 years. The mission is incredible as is the company. Having the ability to work with a team of individuals from varying departments all devoted to the frail, elderly population is amazing. Some of the comments within the reviews are unfair given the devotion and dedication the management and leadership team has to preserving the quality of life and well being of the population. Some of these individuals are working incredibly hard (some well over the typical work week) to promote the mission and well being of participants. While every company has individuals who may not be in it for the right reasons, the employees devoted to the mission and cause (including all directors that I have encountered along with management) for the most part are empathetic, caring, have an open ear, and want what is best for he participants that we serve and the employees that work here. I would recommend this company to anyone willing to serve the geriatric population and fulfill their wishes to age in place.

Cons

As census grows with the company, staff and management / directors have to take on increased responsibilities and work load. While this isn't unusual, consistent analysis of workload and feedback of staff should continue to be taken to monitor burnout.

Pros

Working with the elderly and being able for them to stay in there own home is wonderful wonderful programs if they had someone smart enough to run it

Cons

Management has no experience and are just plain stupid. The elderly (participants) could run this place better than the 5000 managers that they have.
