Pros

I love working at rewardStyle! To come from a very strict corporate environment to a place where dress code doesn't exist and everyone is so laid back and friendly is awesome! I love having the ability to be creative in my role as rewardStyle is always striving to make this a place where people want to come to work! All of the perks that rewardStyle offers also aren't bad at all.

Cons

I feel like rewardStyle is going through growing pains when it comes to maintaining the start-up culture versus becoming an corporate company (which is normal in all companies going through this lifecycle stage). I think that the executive team has done a great job of trying to find the perfect balance environment wise as employees seem to be generally happy here.

Pros

- You will not find a better software company to work for in Dallas. Work hard play hard mentality. Amazing culture and work environment. Wear whatever you want. Workout at the company gym whenever you want. Flexible hours. There is a fully stocked bar in the office. Stocked fridge and snacks. Attend software conferences, all expenses paid. Company parties and events. Catered lunch and breakfast a few days a week. - You get a brand new Retina MacBook Pro to use at work and as well as at home, along with a Thunderbolt 27" display at your desk. - Very detailed and well thought out onboarding process. - CEO Baxter Box, CTO Scott Bedard and VP of Engineering Gary Bernitz are all great leaders and incredibly personable and approachable. - The company is experiencing rapid growth - have an office in London and San Francisco. - Project managers are very organized and understand the technology. - You get out what you put in - you have the opportunity to take on projects you are interested in and drive them to the finish line. - Emphasis on Python and Go programming languages and newest tech. Their strict code review process and an effective Git paradigm are conducive to a great development environment. - Employees are very bright and super awesome guys. Really easy to get along with. Great teachers, everyone is there to help. Most employees are young, < 30 years of age. The only reason I left the company was to go back to school, otherwise would have never left.

Cons

- Legacy code is largely PHP and has a somewhat steep learning curve. However, no new PHP code is being written... again, their emphasis is on new tech. - You have a lot of freedom so if you're the type of person who needs someone to hold your hand and always tell you what to do this may not be a good fit.

Pros

* Get to use a lot of upcoming technologies * The engineers are fun to work with, make some good friendships

Cons

* New CTO literally understands none of our product and makes no attempt to understand it * Turnover is high, engineers quit monthly, all original knowledge of product is practically gone * Communication is horrible, engineers lie too often about what can be done so managers set unreasonable deadlines * People are lied to about job description when brought on * In the between phase of being a start-up and being corporate and no one has any idea how to manage this * CEO does not care about engineers whatsoever * Toxic environment prevents anything from getting done * Code quality is bad * Salary and benefits not worth the environment

Thank you for your review! Since this review has been posted rewardStyle has made great strides in wanting to better the Engineering department and rewardStyle as a whole. We hired a new CTO in June that has drastically changed the direction and culture of the Engineering department to be a more positive working environment. As for salary and benefits we have made significant changes in the last 2 years from offering no benefits to establishing the full spectrum of insurance and retirement plans. For 2015 we increased employer contributions to 50% of the total health premium, offer dental, vision, FSA, Basic Life, Long-term Disability, Short-term Disability, Supplemental life, Teledoc, 401(k) plan, added sick days, and Birthday PTO. We also continue to have Summer hours, free monthly chair massages, breakfast and lunch every week, fully stocked kitchen and bar, fun employee events, and employee discounts with local restaurants and stores near the office. The HR department sends out culture surveys every year seeking feedback from employees on what employees like and what we can do better and continuously strive to make changes and improve our work environment. We have come a long way the last 4 years and we will continue to make rewardStyle a fun and laid back atmosphere where people want to come to work.
